Greek epic power metal band SACRED BLOOD has been added to the Pitch Black Records roster with the band’s second album due for release on May 29th. As previously announced, the album will be titled “Alexandros”, a concept album about none other than Alexander the Great.

SACRED BLOOD (originally called SACRED) were formed in late 2003 and soon after released their first demo CD titled “Clash of the Titans.” In 2008 the band’s debut CD (“The Battle of Thermopylae: The Chronicle”) was released, receiving high praises worldwide.

“Alexandros” deals with the legend that is Alexander the Great and the tale is unfolded over fifteen tracks of melodic epic power metal that also sees the use of a variety of folk instruments. The atmosphere and overall musicianship in this album are guaranteed to please even the most demanding epic metal fan. “Alexandros” has already received the thumbs up from one of the band’s top influences and of course a highly respected name; David DeFeis (VIRGIN STEEL) had the chance to pre-listen the album and commented “Well played, sung, recorded and mixed. It is full of great passion and epic sensibilities!”

Released on May 29th, the album will be available through Pitch Black Records (pre-order link) and its distribution partners as well as through major mp3 stores. A limited edition will be released later in the year, the details of which will be revealed at a later stage.

Legendary Greek classic metal band MARAUDER have joined forces with Pitch Black Records. Having recently celebrated 22 years since the band was formed, with a number of metal anthems composed throughout the years and having established themselves as one of the most respected acts of the Greek metal scene, MARAUDER are now back with their fifth album, “Elegy of Blood”.

MARAUDER were formed in early 1990 and have since then performed live countless times in Greece and abroad, acquiring a huge following and the respect and admiration of many amongst their local scene.

Label owner Phivos Papadopoulos, commented on this particular signing: “When in the early 90’s I was writing (yes writing, not emailing) this band to send me their demo tape I never imagined that 20 years later they would be signing under my own record label. The decision to sign MARAUDER was instantaneous and it’s with great pleasure that we welcome the band to the PBR family, not just because of the personal factor but also because they are a kick-ass band that truly deserves as much recognition as possible!”

“Elegy of Blood” is comprised of ten PURE heavy metal songs. Powerful and passionate melodic metal compositions make this a highly anticipated release, particularly amongst the band’s die-hard fans. Symphonic black metal band LITROSIS, from Greece, have been added to the Pitch Black Records roster and their debut album, “I am Death”, is due to be released on May 1st under the ‘BLACKEST PITCH SERIES’; a series of unique black metal releases that feature an “eclectic” blend of black metal with the first pressing always strictly limited to 333 numbered copies housed inside a unique digipack.

Formed in 2010, LITROSIS is based in Greece, with some band members in the UK and USA. They describe their style as “extreme epic metal” and rightly so, even though the black metal element is quite evident in their music.

“I am Death” features a very special guest appearance by Zak Stevens (SAVATAGE, CIRCLE II CIRCLE) and the stunning cover artwork was created by Andreas Marschall.
